Fairhaven is a residential subdivision located on the far west end of Saskatoon right near the edge of the most westerly city limits. It was developed in the 1980's and early 1990's. A little less than half of its homes are single-family dwellings while the remainder of the housing is made up of high-density apartments and town homes. Fairhaven has two elementary schools including St. Mark School in the catholic system and Fairhaven School for students enrolled in the public system. Two of Saskatoon’s newest high schools, Tommy Douglas Collegiate and Bethlehem Catholic High School are located at the edge of Fairhaven as well. Those two schools share a site with the Shaw Centre, a civic recreational facility offering an Olympic sized swimming pool, water slides and diving platforms. The area has just one public park, but it’s a large one at approximately 20 acres. Each elementary school occupies a portion of the park’s outer edge. The park acts as a connector to various areas within Fairhaven.
The area offers good access to a number of convenience stores. The closest major shopping centre is Confederation Park Mall. Statistics;
| Population | 5,253 | | Number of households | 1,650 | | Average persons per household | 2.6 | | Home ownership | 47% | | Average sale price of a residential dwelling (2009) | $212,706 | | Average household income | $47,137 |
